This is Daniel Smith, the writer & founder of the Daily Concept.

I’m sending this message to personally thank you for reading my newsletter.

2024 has been a fantastic year for the Daily Concept. 

We’ve published over 100 newsletters.

And we’ve grown from a few hundred subscribers at the start of the year to more than 4,300+ readers in over 70 countries around the world!

I’m so happy to have found readers who share my love of learning.

Now, I have two requests for you:

1. Please respond to this email with any feedback you have about the Daily Concept. Good, bad, critical, constructive — I just want to know what my readers like about the newsletter or what they think could be improved.

2. Please consider buying a paid subscription to the newsletter.

This year was exciting because we’ve begun offering paid subscriptions to readers who want to support me & the publication.

There are two ways to make money from a newsletter: advertising and paid subscriptions.

I don’t want to include advertising in this newsletter. Ads are annoying and inauthentic. (see below)

Fortunately, the rise of social media platforms like Substack makes it possible to have reader-supported media, allowing writers like me to rely upon the generosity of readers like you to make a living.

I also work as a college professor, so this isn’t my only livelihood.

I love teaching, but I hope that one day I can work full-time on the Daily Concept.

Every paid subscriber helps me get closer to that goal.

Writing this newsletter is a lot of work, and I am massively grateful to everyone who contributes $6-per-month to support the publication.
